HELP SAVE THE ENDANGERED GIANT BARRED FROG
Introduction Day (docx 306 KB)
Thank you to all those people who were able to attend our Introduction/Project Day on 28 October. Here are some of the photos from the day.
We have received some great photos of the Great Barred Frog (a cousin of the Giant Barred Frog) from some of our local "watchers" (see below).
(Thanks Richard)
Local Great Barred Frog (Thanks Wal)
It is handy to note that there are some distinct differences between the Great Barred Frog and the Giant Barred Frog as illustrated in the table below (courtesy of Wet Forest Frogs of South-east Queensland by Ed Meyer, Harry Hines and Jean-Marc Hero of Endangered Frog Research Centre Griffith University Gold Coast Campus).
BIG SCRUB SCHOOLS STAGE 3 ENRICHMENT DAY 13 MARCH 2015
Tuntable Creek Public School, with the help of Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre hosted an enrichment day on 13 March 2015 with students from Dunoon, Whian Whian, The Channon, Modanville and Corndale in years 5 and 6 to come and learn about the habitat of our endangered species the Giant Barred Frog.
Students learnt the importance of clean water supply to survival of most frog species and how to monitor water purity in their own environment.
Please check back to our page for regular updates on weed eradication days, plantings, night spotting and Tuntable Creek Landcare group days.
